" Sayyid Abdul Rahman Bafakhy Thangal Memorial (SARBTM) Govt. College, Koyilandy was established in 1975. It was named after the great social reformer Sayyid Abdul Rahman Bafakhy Thangal who hailed from Koyilandy. The motto  of the college  “Yatra viswam bhavatyeka needam”  in translation means  “Where the entire world becomes a single nest” . In our institution, students are trained not only in academics, but also in selfless love and service to the nation and the world.

The advancement of human civilization is significantly influenced by education. In her famous UN Speech, Malala Yousafzai observes that ‘one child, one teacher, one book and one pen can change the world. Education is the only solution. Education first.’ Since the beginning of time, the way that people learn has changed significantly over time and continues to do so as a result of developing technology. This is mainly because education empowers people to become mindful of their liberties and obligations in a societal structure. It equips them with cognitive ability, physical growth, morals, and ideas. In this way, by empowering future citizens, education also benefits society. The modern-age education system of India in the 21st century is constituted of a new approach to learning from online education to skill-development courses, digital learning platforms, a grading system as well as the use of educational technology in the classrooms and a newly introduced  Educational Policy (NEP 2020). It is  also widely accepted that education should aim at the promotion of democratic values which are necessary for the success of a democracy. These values are the pre-requisites for the successful living in a democratic nation wedded to democratic cult and principles.

Our college has a sprawling campus of more than 18 acres immersed in tranquil beauty, on the western bank of the river Akalappuzha. We welcome you all to this hermitage of knowledge.
